Madame de Chantal
This course is an invitation to travel the road to holiness that God invited St. Jane de Chantal to travel, and to see how God shaped this woman into a holy “spiritual mother.”
St. Jane is unique in this way, in that she had a profound change in her vocational calling; and, as she followed God along the new path, she was used by God to shape a new spirituality with St. Francis de Sales. Their new spirituality influenced many in her era and region, and then bore fruit with the founding of the VISITATION order.
In this 12-week course (two parts of 6 weeks each), we will make St. Jane de Chantal’s story the pathway to the discovery for our own spiritual journey. We will use her form of spiritual direction to make it our spiritual direction. We will also discover more insights into God’s will for us, and how we can respond to his love in our personal life.
Special attention during the course will be focused on the teachings of St. Francis de Sales and the calling to “spiritual motherhood.”
